To enable llvmpipe on intel graphics cards Ubuntu 12.10

Create a file ‘/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf’ with the following contents.

Section “Device”
Identifier “Intel Graphics”
Driver “intel”
Option “NoAccel” “true”
EndSection

logout or restart.

Double / two / multiple icon of thunderbird main window in system tray when minimized to taskbar or close window to taskbar

Some times, Thunderbird main window will have two or multiple icons in system tray – task bar  when we are using minimize to tray extension. This can be fixed by removing close to tray minimize  option, close one window & re-enable the option again.

Tools –> addons — > minimized to tray –> preference –> select never & close the extra windows.

Then re-enable by

Tools –> addons — > minimized to tray –> preference –> select instead of closing & minimize windows option.

Test Disk – a wonderful Tool for Partition recovery

TestDisk is free data & partition recovery software.

using software center, you can download for Linux.

Step By step wizards helps in recovery the deleted partition or damaged partition table or deleted files from partition.

Wizard works in Dos mode or as bash shell. But very easy to use wizard.

Fix Ubuntu 12.04 or 12.10 linux /home directory missing.

In Ubuntu, while booting some times /home directory missing. The problem most probably due to mismatch in uuid of partition in fstab configuration file in /etc directory.

Take a live usb or cd ubuntu & boot inside the system. Check the drive are detected.

First Find the partition path example /dev/sda6. Then go to  /dev/disk/by-uuid. right clcik -> properties. check each device link target.

 

 

 

Change the fstab file in /etc[Root permission required] with correct uuid from disk-uuid .

So you can get back your home directory.

Uninstall Nvidia driver fedora 17 / 18

Remove nvidia-drm driver using yum.

Then unistall mesa-libGL ny
rpm -ev –nodeps mesa-libGL

install Nouveau driver. restart system.

Windows Explorer hangs & cpu usage increases to high / 100% for libreoffice 3.6

When Explorer Windows hangs & cpu usage increases to high for libreoffice 3.6, you can fix by disabling the optional component in the installer ” Windows explorer extension”. This is happens because this extension try to create thumbnail.

Go to add/remove –> libreoffice –> modify/change –> unselect the optional component –>Windows explorer extension –>next & finish the installation.

To rotate an image in libreoffice [90 /180]

We cannot rotate directly rotate image in libreoffice writer.

Right click on image –> edit with external tool… –> open in external editor .

Rotate to required Degree & save & close. Image get automatically get updated in writer.

Or

If you are using Linux, you can use gthumb for editing the image.

If image is in png format while inserting, You can rotate desired degree in gthumb & Save. The following option should be used – image size to bounding box & background to transparent.

You can use any image editor that support png image, image size to bounding box & background to transparent.

But text  will have square area bounded to image. To re-flow the text you can use contour option in wrap menu.

You can get as shown in the image below.

Or

you can open the file in draw & rotate. Then paste file.

 

Note:  Now this bug has fixed in the Libre office version 4.1.
